Developing A Growing South American Base Metals Project

 

The Mining Recruitment Group has been retained to lead the executive search process to identify and secure a Vice President, Project Development for our Client, a South America focused base metals company who are now embarking upon a maiden PEA on their flagship project.

The VP, Project Development will lead the management and definition of the project scope and design parameters, metallurgical, technical and economic evaluations and environmental assessment, in addition to permitting process.  Subsequently, as they march towards a production decision, they’ll be working with mining consultants to oversee strategizing, detailed engineering and mine design and construction, ore processing and operational methodologies including EPC(M) contract management plan for construction and budget activities, technology selection & procurement, environment compliances and recruiting subordinate staff.

We’re looking for an accomplished project development professional to steward this highly-followed and growing project, that has the capability to see it from PEA through to full-scale operations.  The preferred candidate would be an experienced mining engineer with experience developing base metal projects in South America.

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:          

  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science – Mining or equivalent combination of education/experience;
  • Registered Professional engineer
  • Minimum 20 years relevant experience in a senior development/construction/operations management role in mining industry;
  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Proven ability to lead operations teams, strong coaching and mentoring skills and the ability to create and maintain a culture of excellence.
  • A storied track record of delivering other large-scale projects through construction, ideally with a minimum of three to four successful, large-scale builds to their name.
  • Fluent in Spanish

The successful applicant can be based in either Vancouver or Toronto, with travel to site as required.
