The Mining Recruitment Group Ltd. Is a boutique executive search firm focused on the unique needs of the mining sector.

We have been retained by our Client, a precious metals company that is on track to become a mid-tier gold producer, to lead the search for a Vice President of Project Development & Construction to guide their flagship project into commercial production.

Reporting to President and Chief Executive (the “CEO”), the VP Project Development & Construction will be responsible to deliver the construction of the Initial aspect of our Client’s flagship project, on time and on budget with a fit for purpose strategy.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  In this position the Vice President, Project Development & Construction will:

 

  • Be responsible for the direction, management and development of all aspects of the Construction Project
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary owners team to advance the project including through detailed engineering, procurement, EPCM/EPM negotiations, construction and commissioning
  • Develop effective implementation plans, including execution schedule, project contracting, HS&E plans, quality management, project controls and operational readiness
  • Manage external consultants to ensure development of a fit for purpose project
  • Ensure the use of effective project control tools that enable management of budget, schedule and risk
  • Manage the project development and site exploration operations teams by promoting a safe, strong performance culture
  • Deliver regular updates to the CEO

 

 

WORKING PREMISES:       The position is based at Client’s Head Office in Vancouver, with travel as required

 

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:           

  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science – Mining or equivalent combination of education/experience;
  • Registered Professional engineer ;
  • Minimum 20 years relevant experience a senior operations/construction management role in mining industry;
  • A storied track record of delivering other large-scale projects through construction, ideally with a minimum of three to four successful large-scale builds to their name;
  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Proven ability to lead operations teams, strong coaching and mentoring skills and the ability to create and maintain a culture of excellence.
