The Mining Recruitment Group is a boutique executive search firm focused exclusively on the unique requirements of the mining industry.
Our client is looking for an experienced mining professional for the role of Vice President of Exploration. This company is currently private, though is quickly moving towards their goal of becoming listed this fall
Currently, our client has 4 properties in Eastern Europe(with a focus on Gold/Copper/Zinc), of which they will be looking to expand upon their ongoing drill program. They have $3M in the treasury, have invested close to $5M thus far in the projects and infrastructure, and are actively seeking someone to be the face of the organization and take control.

Though our client is effectively in its’ early stages, the company currently has the benefit of sharing many of the resources that have been put in place by their existing sister company. These would include an established head office and shared personnel and support staff in Vancouver, a European office for technical staff and a country manager overseeing the day to day operations in Eastern Europe.

Reporting to the President and C.E.O., the Vice President of Exploration will be responsible for the following:

  • Planning and directing the Company’s exploration activities
  • Preparing and implementing a consolidated exploration plan and budget to achieve goals and objectives of the Corporation’s strategic plan
  • Commissioning and direct supervision of outside consultants and staff in achieving corporate exploration objectives
  • Achieving the corporation’s exploration goals on time and within budget
  • Reporting exploration results and expenditures to the President and C.E.O. on a regular basis as to be agreed upon
  • Contributing to corporate strategic plan
  • Coordinating and liasing with outside consultants and business partners in achieving exploration goals and identifying opportunities
  • Identifying exploration opportunities consistent with the corporate strategic plan, and assisting in negotiations for the acquisition of such opportunities
  • Assisting in evaluation of opportunities for acquisition and development as required

The ideal candidate would be a professional geologist with 13+ years working in the mineral exploration industry on early to advanced stage gold and base metal exploration projects. The ideal candidate will have previous experience operating within Eastern Europe, specifically Turkey or Romania. The incumbent will have a passion for the field, can accommodate significant travel, and fit well into the current team dynamic.

Ideally the candidate will be based in Vancouver or Europe.
