The Mining Recruitment Group is a boutique executive search firm focused exclusively on the unique requirements of the mining industry.

We are currently seeking applications on behalf of our Client, a well-funded, privately held resource company comprised of an impressive Board and a dedicated team of proven resource finders. Focused purely on Colombia, our Client has compiled a large portfolio of assets with drill-ready targets already identified and permitting currently underway.

This is a key position for our Client as the incumbent will provide vision and have oversight over all technical, operational and administrative personnel from their office located in Medellín, Colombia.

Reporting to the President/CEO, the VP Exploration will be responsible for the following:

  • Managing the Company’s exploration and administration activities and staff based in Medellín, Colombia
  • Preparing and implementing a consolidated exploration plan and budget
  • Representing the Company with government, community and industry stakeholders
  • Achieving the Corporation’s exploration goals on time and within budget
  • Reporting exploration results and expenditures to the President on a regular basis as to be agreed upon
  • Contributing to corporate strategic planning
  • Coordinating and liaising with outside consultants and business partners in achieving exploration goals and identifying opportunities
  • Identifying exploration opportunities consistent with the corporate strategic plan, and assisting in negotiations for the acquisition of such opportunities
  • Regular communication and the reporting of exploration results and expenditures to the President/CEO on a timely basis

The ideal candidate will have no less than twenty years of relevant experience with a significant background working within Latin America. Fluent in Spanish, the successful candidate would be a natural leader with a proven ability to multi-task and direct a core team of international and local geologists. The successful candidate must be able to forge and maintain business partnerships with contractors, governments and local communities as well as be able to contribute to presentations to investors and potential investors. The incumbent should also have experience reporting to a board of directors.
