The Mining Recruitment Group is a boutique executive search firm focused exclusively on the unique requirements of the mining industry.
We are currently accepting applications on behalf of our client, an extremely well financed Uranium exploration and development company with their flagship project located in Nunavut that boasts Canada`s highest grade Uranium deposit outside of the Athabasca Basin.
Position Title:
Senior Project Geologist/Project Manager
Position Directly Reports to:
Vice President Operations
Position Term:
· Full time – 6 month contract, with opportunity for permanent position and advancement
· Field work June to October starting immediately. Rotation up to 6 weeks on-2 weeks off, or variable depending on staffing/project scheduling
· Office work in Vancouver as follow-up to, and between field programs
Position Location:
· Fly in-fly out remote camp in Nunavut, Head Office in Vancouver BC
Compensation:
· Negotiable based on experience
Specific Position Responsibilities:
· Manage day to day technical field operations, including but not limited to: drilling, geological, geophysical and resource definition programs;
· Direct supervision of contractors and on-site personnel, plus other site logistics such as camp coordination and transport scheduling;
· Oversee data interpretation, data management, presentation and reporting. Help evaluate and generate exploration targets using priorities jointly developed by management and technical teams;
· Assist in preparation of the field and project budgets in coordination with the management team. Ensure project objectives are met on time and on budget;
· Temporarily assume on-site duties of VP Operations when appropriate;
· Execute specials projects and strategies defined by management
General Employee Responsibilities:
· Assist in project planning by identifying employment, team and contractor requirements needed to execute project goals;
· Represent the Company’s best interests in all dealings with stakeholders, contractors, the media, and public while maintaining legal, regulatory and contractual compliance
Position Qualifications:
· Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Engineering, Geosciences or related field, with 5-7 years of exploration experience;
· Preference to several years working in remote, helicopter supported drilling projects in northern climes;
· Experience at managing multidisciplinary field programs with knowledge of general safety standards for exploration projects;
· Familiarity with budget creation and controls;
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, technical writing experience and an ability to work with multiple contractors and stakeholders;
· Basic computer skills required, working knowledge of GIS software (ArcGis, Micro mine, MapInfo) an asset
