The Mining Recruitment Group is a boutique executive search firm focused exclusively on the unique requirements of the mining industry.

We have been retained by one of the foremost EPCM firms in the world to find a leader to be the face of their mining division for Western North America. Our Clients’ global mining team offers specialized services in the area of resource geology, mine engineering, data management, and mine technical computing. They seek an established figure within the mining sector with a good name and high-level relationships to join them to help promote their full range of services to the mining industry, from geological modeling to mine optimization and design, process optimization, mill design and commissioning assistance, financial evaluation and operational support.

Given their stature they work on some of the most challenging and rewarding projects around the world and they want to further build out their mining team by bringing on a “big name” within the industry to allow them to continue serving their clients at the highest of levels.

The Challenge

Reporting to the Global Managing Director-Mining and Mineral Processing, you will be our Clients’ lynch-pin for growth within the Western North America market and will be accountable for driving a global business strategy for their mining practice. You will be responsible for business development across Western North America region and overseeing the client portfolio as the “face” of the practice. You will supervise a global team of mining engineers and will ensure that resources are deployed strategically around the world.

The ideal leader:

• You have the desire to make a difference in the mining industry.
• You have a long & storied track record in Director, VP level or C-Suite mining & mineral processing focused roles within prominent mid-tier or large cap mining companies(that are ideally based in Vancouver), with lasting relationships forged.
• You are comfortable in a Client facing, business development focused role.
• You consider yourself innovative, forward thinking and enjoy developing new processes and methods.
• You are passionate about challenging the status quo and improving current methodologies.
• You strive to deliver projects of high quality in a sustainable, safe, and innovative manner.
• You have exposure to international projects and a deep understanding of the global mining industry.
• You are a recognized expert in your field
• You are flexible and are able to adapt to a dynamic environment.
• You are client focused.

The ideal background and experience:

• You have an engineering degree from a recognized institution, preferably in Mechanical or Mining Engineering.
• You have over 20 years of experience in the mining industry and have held senior leadership positions within prominent mid-tier or large cap mining companies.
• You have experience managing mining projects in an operating or service environment.
