Chief Operating Officer & Country Manager- Emerging Mid Tier Gold Developer

EMERGING MID TIER GOLD DEVELOPER

The Mining Recruitment Group Ltd has been retained by an emerging mid-tier gold developer to identify and secure a seasoned operations executive to oversee the construction and operation of their flagship asset as Chief Operating Officer & Country Manager.

We are looking for a seasoned mine builder who has a successful track record in development, construction and commissioning of other large, open pit heap leach gold projects. If this is you, keep reading.

Working closely with Senior Management and the Board of Directors, you would be responsible to oversee the everyday operations and functions of the company and be responsible for the implementation and further development of the company’s strategic vision.

The ideal Candidate will have experience in open pit mining, with significant exposure to gold and metallurgical processes. Heap leach experience would be advantageous and very important is a proven track record in developing a project through construction and commissioning. You would be responsible for mine and construction operations teams of anywhere up to 500 employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Strong management and leadership skills with a high degree of accountability
• Demonstrate good working knowledge and experience in developing and implementing strategic plans, management policies, strategies and systems
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and consultative skills with the ability to interact with Management, employees, and all stakeholders.
• Able to appreciate the big picture and apply strategic and analytical thinking to effectively implement this in practical terms
• Strong financial acumen including budgeting and forecasting
• A proven track record in improving all mining processes
• Have full responsibility for the direction, management and development of the ongoing projects of the construction and mine development.
• Direct and manage the full operations of the mine
• Have communication skills that are superior and be equally at home on the mine and in the boardroom and competent at representing the mine to management, the financial community and other key stakeholders
• Have proven experience in the development and management of mine operations, including bringing new operations into full production
• Ensure safe mine operations and establish and maintain effective safety programs
• Ensure compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and associated permits.

Remuneration will be commensurate for a senior role of this nature including bonus structure, stock options and benefits. Candidate must be available for significant travel and be able to consider relocation. Expats are encouraged to apply.
